If you wear reading glasses, bifocals or trifocals, you are not alone. In fact, presbyopia – a change in vision brought on by aging – will eventually affect all of us around the age of 40-45. People with presbyopia have difficulty seeing things up-close without visual aids, like glasses.

To correct presbyopia, Clearview Eye Center offers a procedure called PRELEX™, or Presbyoptic Lens Exchange. PRELEX™ is performed at the Clearview Eye Surgery Center as an outpatient procedure. During the PRELEX™ procedure, Dr. Emert removes the natural lens of your eye and replaces it with a sophisticated implant called an Intraocular Lens, or IOL. Made of safe, non-toxic synthetic material that is compatible with eye tissue, this intraocular lens will not deteriorate over time.

This procedure may also be an alternative to LASIK for those with thin corneas, or with a very high degree of nearsightedness or farsightedness.
